Practical questions

Can I change the speed settings?

The manufacturer configures the sign to your order requirements. Trigger settings and illumination duration can be adjusted following its instructions.

Will solar remove the need for battery charging?

Not in all conditions. Traffic, shade and weather affect charging. Mains recharging may be required during prolonged overcast weather or winter.

Can I add traffic data capture?

Ask us about data capture and connection options. The documented Kestrel Workbench software requires Windows and does not support macOS.

What warranty is provided?

The supplier confirms a six-year return-to-base warranty. Contact us for current component coverage and return arrangements.

Benefits and applications

The SLR reinforces the limit you have configured rather than displaying each driver's measured speed. It is an option to consider where the priority is a consistent speed-limit reminder. Positioning and alignment should be assessed for the intended site.

About this model

Does the number change to show each vehicle's speed?

No. The SLR displays the configured speed limit. Consider the SID or SAM if you want approaching drivers to see their measured speed.

Choosing a location

Provide a clear view of approaching traffic, preferably on a straight approach. Avoid overhanging trees and solar-panel shade. Do not obscure existing signs or overhang highway boundaries without the adjoining owner’s consent.

The manufacturer’s roadside guidance specifies at least 2.15m from the ground to the base of the sign and less than 1m between the kerb and its nearest edge. Confirm the position is appropriate for the site and any authority requirements. Obtain permission before using an existing post.

Mounting your sign

Plan safe access for working at height. Mains electrical setup must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Attach the mounting plate using post clips

1. Attach the plate

Secure the plate with the supplied clips using a 13mm spanner. Tools are not included.

Fit the bottom slot onto the mounting plate

2. Locate the sign

Fit the slot at the bottom of the sign onto the mounting plate.

Secure the sign from inside using washers and screw knobs

3. Secure from inside

Open the enclosure and use the supplied washers and screw knobs to secure it.

Follow the complete manufacturer instructions for power connections and battery polarity. For solar setup, connect the battery to the controller before the solar panel.
